Sensex soars by 950.84 pts in week
MUMBAI [Maha Media]: The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange posted a huge gain of 950.84 points or 2.81 per cent, breaching 34k level to 34,731.73 in a week under review on positive global cues.
Key indices ignored the potential fallout of India-China tensions and rising number of virus infections.
The gains were led by index heavyweight Reliance Industries. Nifty too gained 271.50 points or 2.72 per cent to settle at 10,244.40. BSE Mid-Cap rose 203.69 or 1.62 per cent to settle at 12,803.84. BSE Small cap soared 431.84 points or 3.65% to settle at 12,277.11.
The Sensex tumbled down by 552.09 points on Monday to settle at 33,228.80. Nifty 50 lost 159.20 points to settle at 9,813.70. On Tuesday, amid high volatility as strong global cues Sensex gained 376.42 points to settle at 33,605.22. Nifty rose 100.30 points to settle at 9,914.
Following a tension between India and China on Ladakh border, the Sensex, on Wednesday, declined 97.30 points to 33,507.92. Nifty too fell by 32.85 points to settle at 9,881.15. On Thursday the Sensex jumped 700.13 points to settle at 34,208.05. Nifty rallied 210.50 points to settle at 10091.65.
On Friday, the market ended with strong gains supported by positive global shares. Sensex jumped 523.68 points to settle at 34,731.73. Nifty rallied 152.75 points to settle at 10,244.40.
