Sushant Singh Rajput’s last rites performed

MUMBAI [Maha Media]: Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s last rites were performed at the Vile Parle crematorium on Monday. He was found dead at his house on Sunday, at the age of 34. While some members of his family flew down to Mumbai late Sunday, his father arrived with other family members from Patna on Monday afternoon.

Seen at the funeral, amid heavy rain, were his Chhichhore co-stars Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Sharma, his Raabta co-star Kriti Sanon, and his Dil Bechara director Mukesh Chhabra, among others. Also in attendance was Sushant’s Kedarnath and Kai Po Che director Abhishek Kapoor, who came with his wife, Pragya.

The provisional post mortem report of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput has revealed that the provisional cause of death was asphyxia due to hanging, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abhishek Trimukhe said on Monday.
 
Rajput had allegedly committed suicide at his Bandra residence in Mumbai by hanging himself on Sunday. However, no suicide note has been recovered from Rajput's residence, police said.

"Provisional postmortem report has been submitted by doctors at Bandra Police Station. A team of three doctors conducted the autopsy of Sushanth Singh Rajput. The provisional cause of death is asphyxia due to hanging," Trimukhe said.

The post mortem has been conducted at Dr RN Cooper Municipal General Hospital in Mumbai.

Known for films like "Kai Po Che!", "MS Dhoni: The Untold Story", "Chhichhore", Rajput was found hanging at his Bandra home, the police said on Sunday. He was 34.

As per Rajput’s spokesperson, the actor’s last rites will be performed after his father reaches Mumbai from Patna.

“Actor Sushant Singh Rajput's cremation will be held today at Pawan Hans, Vile Parle,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed shock on the passing away of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In a tweet the Prime Minister said, a bright young actor gone too soon. He added that Sushant Singh Rajput excelled on TV and in film.

Prime Minister said, the 34-year-old actor's rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and he leaves behind several memorable performances. Mr Modi said, his thoughts are with the actor's family and fans.

Rajput’s last screen appearance was Nitesh Tiwari-directed 2019 film "Chhichhore".
