MP: Bhoj University to restart PhD degree
BHOPAL [Maha Media]: Madhya Pradesh Bhoj (Open) University will soon be offering PhD degree to the research scholars. The university will be rewarding PhD degree after a gap of 10 years as around 18 professors have been sent on deputation. There are many vacancies for PhD scholars. In order to fill the vacancies, the university will be conducting entrance examination.
Preparation for the same has begun in university following the guidelines of University Grants Commission (UGC). Besides, candidates having PhD degree from Bhoj University would have employment opportunity after deputation of professors.
Sources said, about ten years back UGC had put ban on PhD degree of Bhoj University as guides of the university were under other universities. As Bhoj University is an open institute, appointment of regular professor could not be held.
At present university has only one regular professor and he is suspended temporarily. There are 15 professors including the Vice Chancellor on deputation. Vice Chancellor Jayant Sonwalkar has made all preparation to admit the students for PhD on vacant seats.
An entrance examination will be conducted to admit the students under UGC guidelines. Registrar LS Solanki is scrutinising the rules of UGC for further examination.
He said that proposal is being made to conduct the PhD examination. He said proposal would be kept before managing board and after getting final approval of the board, research work would begin.
